1998 - 2003
Prop has always been in transition, and nothing shows its flow state quite like this era. Its three occupancies in the span of five years shows its priority on the development of new works, often an unsteady landscape, rather than the stability of a single space. There is something to be said for the continued success of Prop shows, all leading up to the impending settle-down of their roots.
New Age, New Space
In spring 1998, Prop moved into their fourth location at 4225 North Lincoln Avenue, the shortest-occupied space in their history with only a year. They would then move to 1843 West North Avenue (aptly coined "The Garage" due to the space's layout) where they would stay until spring 2000.
Also in 1998, Prop joined the National New Play Network (NNPN), a nationwide organization dedicated to the development of new American plays. Artistic directors Stefan Brün and Scott Vehill became board members, alongside Vehill's wife Kristen Vehill.
Prop remains a charter and active member of NNPN currently, aligning with its long-time mission to produce new works.
2001
First produced as a reading for the Prop and Steppenwolf collaboration New Play 2000 Festival, Rosemary went on to be fully produced at Prop a year later. The show received a Jeff Award for New Work and two nominees for Actor in a Principal Role - Play.
